Donate an Artifact or Object
Over the San Diego Automotive Museum's past 30 years, we have had the unique opportunity to display antique automotive memorabilia collected from the generous contributions of many thoughtful donors. Our collection and archive are thoughtfully curated to educate and engage our visitors.
We will accept the following objects to complement our collection:
- Historic documents
- Mascots/hood ornaments
- Mechanics’ tools
- Racing suits and memorabilia
- Posters, advertisements, and signs
- Photographs
- Models
- License plates
- And many other artifacts!
Objects accepted into the Museum's collection must be consistent with our mission to tell the story of the social and technological past, present, and future of motorized vehicles throughout our collections, exhibitions, and educational programs.
Artifact or object donations are reviewed on a case-by-case basis with our curatorial team before acceptance into our permanent collection. Consideration will be given according to SDAM's ability to provide proper care and storage for any artifact or object. The SDAM will not accept artifacts if the future care and preservation needs exceed the Museum's resources. All objects must be free of copyright restrictions.
The Museum does not offer appraisals.
